In 2024, 69³ÉÈ˵¼º½ once again achieved an outstanding accomplishment, securing second place in Queensland for academic performance in NAPLAN, the .
This marks the second consecutive year that our students have ranked in the top tier of the state, a remarkable achievement that speaks volumes about our commitment to excellence in education. So, how did we achieve excellence in NAPLAN? The answer is simple: prayer, parent support, and academic inclusion.

Academic Inclusion: Every Student’s Progress Matters
At 69³ÉÈ˵¼º½, we foster an academically inclusive environment. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow and succeed, no matter their learning style or pace. This philosophy drives everything we do in the classroom and beyond.
Our approach to inclusion is built on the understanding that students learn in different ways and at different speeds. To address this, our highly skilled teachers and teacher aides differentiate lessons to provide support where needed, ensuring that all students can fully engage in their learning experiences. Whether it’s a bit of extra assistance in reading or extending a student’s understanding of mathematics, our goal is to ensure every child has the tools they need to succeed.
In addition to our expert teachers, we have a multi-tiered system of support provided by several dedicated departments that cater to the diverse needs of our students. These include the English as an Additional Language Department, the Pastoral Care Department, the Learning Extension Department, and the Student Support Department. Together, they create an environment where every child can thrive, no matter where they are on their learning journey.
Pastoral Care: Nurturing the Whole Child
As one of our core values, we strive to create a caring environment that reflects Christ’s love for people. Our Pastoral Care Department, under the leadership of Mrs Toni O’Sullivan, our Head of Pastoral Care, focuses on fostering a nurturing atmosphere where students feel valued and supported. Toni and her team, with their vast experience, understand how vital it is for students to feel secure in their environment so they can focus on learning.
Our Pastoral Care team works tirelessly to ensure that each child’s emotional and social needs are met, creating a climate where students can develop academically and personally. They are committed to strategies that support successful learning, ensuring students feel safe and respected.
Learning Extension: Encouraging Bravery in Learning
Led by Mrs Charlene Cassie, the Head of Learning Extension, our team is dedicated to helping students reach their full academic potential. The Learning Extension department works with students to challenge and stretch their abilities, pushing them to go beyond the standard curriculum.
Charlene and her team create a dynamic learning environment where students are encouraged to be brave and take risks in their academic journey. Whether tackling complex problems or exploring new subjects, the Learning Extension team is committed to helping the most able students excel and expand their horizons.
Student Support: Removing Barriers to Learning
The Student Support Department, led by Mrs Anna Varghese, plays a critical role in ensuring that every child has the support they need to succeed. Anna, with a Master’s Degree in Special Education, believes deeply that every child is created in the image of God and has a unique purpose.
Her team works closely with students and parents, regularly assessing progress and identifying any barriers to learning. Through targeted interventions, regular communication, and collaboration with external agencies, they ensure that students receive the specialised support necessary for success.
English as an Additional Language: Empowering Students to Succeed
Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) team, led by Mrs Dorothy Mulipola, supports students learning English as a second language. Dorothy, and her team, work alongside students to ensure they develop strong language skills and can access the curriculum at their appropriate year level. By providing tailored support, the EAL department empowers students to reach fluency in English, enabling them to engage with their education fully and confidently.
Data-Driven Success: Monitoring Progress for Every Child
At 69³ÉÈ˵¼º½, we are committed to ensuring that every student is making progress. Despite having nearly 1,000 students in Primary, we are dedicated to the individual journey of each child. We accomplish this through thorough screening, continuous progress monitoring, and informed decision-making based on data.
Our approach allows us to provide targeted support, ensuring that no child is left behind. This comprehensive system is a cornerstone of our academic success and is key to helping our students achieve exceptional results in NAPLAN, year after year.
As we celebrate our remarkable achievement of being rated Number 2 in Queensland through NAPLAN again, we reflect on the many factors contributing to our success. With prayer, the support of parents, and an inclusive academic environment, we continue to provide the very best for our students, ensuring their success in all areas of life.
This success is a true reflection of the combined efforts of our College community. The dedication, care, and involvement of our parents play a vital role in supporting students on their academic journey. Likewise, our students’ determination, perseverance, and commitment to their learning are at the heart of these outstanding results. It’s important to recognise that our Primary’s NAPLAN success is the result of the hard work of every student. Each child’s contribution is a building block in our shared achievement.
We are proud of what we have accomplished together and excited for what the future holds as we continue to strive for excellence in everything we do. Philippians 3:14: “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
What an honour to offer students an outstanding Primary education.
